What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2012 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I'm sorry, but I can't see any logic behind forcing lives into this world. Our planet is close to over populated. There is no such thing as "legitimate rape". Forcing potential children who will starve and live in poverty to be born is far more cruel than preventing it in the first place. Unless we legislate to take care of all the needs of the child to be, till adulthood, we have no right to force a life into this world.
No Do you support United States' combat operations in Afghanistan?
Yes Do you support a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan?
Our constant interference in other nations has created our own worst enemies. We created the Taliban, we created al-Qeada, Our continued presence just pushes the people of Afghanistan to hate us more. Our time table for departure should be as quickly as humanly possible without leaving their police force and fledgling government vulnerable. We should take on a policy of non-interference in all nations and focus on defending only the homeland.

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing the federal budget. In order to balance the budget,

Yes do you support reducing defense spending?
Yes do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No do you support reducing Medicaid spending?
No do you support reducing Medicare spending?
Yes Is balancing the budget a legislative priority?
I like the Indigenous peoples proverb “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” Well, our nation has invested in all of us. It is our patriotic duty to pay it forward to the next generation. A very small portion of our population controls over 40% of our nations wealth, yet they do not pay their fair share of taxes. This MUST be remedied if we are to balance our budget and provide for the future. Post World War II we saw unprecedented growth.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
There should be no indirect contributions to any campaign or party. Allowing all this money into our political system undermines our security and freedoms. Money is not free speech, corporations are not people, and if we allow this to continue we may as well elect Wal-Mart and Exon-Mobil into high office, and appoint Halliburton as secretary of defense. Unregulated money in politics only upholds the wants of the few while silencing the many, those of us who cant afford to buy a super-pac.
No Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
There is no crime on this planet that warrants a quick cop out. If you committed a heinous act, then you should pay, through time, for the rest of your life. How many people have we wrongly executed? Do we really wish to continue needless loss of life?
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Yes Do you support spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
Yes Do you support the temporary extension of unemployment benefits?
No Do you support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief?
First off, The Green New Deal, http://www.jillstein.org/green_new_deal will go a long way to restore our nation's economy and ecology. I don't support tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation, there are already more than enough incentives and breaks out there. I DO however support TAX PENALTIES for any businesses outsourcing jobs that belong here at home. I don't support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief because it included the Bush era tax cuts for the wealthy. They already pay less than the rest of us, they don't deserve the break. Time to pay it forward.
Yes Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
We are in need of serious education reform. We need to ditch the standardized testing method and go back to teaching our children the subjects, not the tests. We are homogenizing our entire nation to think along a narrow path when they should be taught creativity and to think outside the box. How will we compete in the future if we have no one capable of invention, innovation, new ideas, and curiosity? With out critical thinking our nation will dissolve to the lowest common denominator. No one wants that.
No Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
BP. Their oil spill happened once already due to lax restrictions, it would happen again, repeatedly, destroying our coastlines and ocean ecology. We would destroy thousands of jobs and millions of lives just for the pursuit of a few more dollars in the pockets of a few. Honestly we need to move away from petroleum systems and into clean renewable energy as quickly as possible.
Yes Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Over 97% of scientists are positive, and show peer reviewed evidence that climate change is both very real and greatly accelerated by human activity. If 97% of any group stood by something, it would be accepted and immediate action taken. That is a SUPER MAJORITY. More and more of the holdouts are accepting the reality of the situation. Those that are fighting it are only doing so because any attempt to rectify the situation will affect their bottom line. This is our world we're talking about, is profit really more important than our planet and the people on it?
Yes Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
Every citizen has the right to bear arms. This is guaranteed in our Bill of Rights. I do support requiring background checks and waiting periods for the purchase of firearms. I also support flagging anyone who buys more ammunition in a given period than reasonably usable at a firing range. All gun owners, and those in the household of a gun owner should be required to take safety classes. Education can prevent many tragedies. Respect for weapons is the key to safety around them.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
No Should individuals be required to purchase health insurance, as mandated in the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
Single Payer System: True healthcare for all. To require anyone to pay a for profit entity for their healthcare goes against everything we stand for. Requiring a Single Payer System does not. If you want compromise, let us make all health insurance companies not for profit with fixed price caps covering everything, and give federally subsidized insurance to those who cant afford it would be acceptable.
No Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Do you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?
No Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and local police?
We are a nation of immigrants. Every single one of us is descended from people who came to this country from abroad. Whether your ancestors crossed the oceans and land bridges thousands of years ago, or came across during the 18 and 1900's packed like sardines in unsafe ships hoping for a better future. How can we deny that hope and dream to anyone else? Our current undocumented immigrants do the jobs that we refuse to do, many of them pay taxes with out hope of a return. If they want to be citizens and pay taxes, LET THEM.
Yes Do you support same-sex marriage?
The sanctity of marriage is frequently used as a reason to prevent same sex couples from being legally joined. Sanctity is a religious term, and therefore has no place with in our government. If your church refuses to marry you, that is their business. But as a government, as a nation, what right do we have to use religious reasons to prevent citizens from enjoying the same rights and privileges as enjoyed by others. EQUALITY FOR ALL!
No Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
No Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Targeting anyone outside of official theaters of conflict leads to grudges being created. How can we be sure a suspected terrorist is actually plotting and capable of doing anything against the U.S.? We are creating more animosity and creating more true terrorists and possibly inviting all out war if we continue the practice. The U.S. as part of a U.N. Task force may do what the U.N. sanctions as necessary with Iran, however it is not our place to be the worlds police force. Our constant intervention and threatening posture is provoking their behavior.
No Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Social Security is a guaranteed retirement safety net. Removing any part of that net could cause it to collapse. There is no guarantee that open market retirement accounts will yield enough for retirement. Chances are, due to the deregulation of the banks and Wall Street, that the accounts will lose money over time. More poverty through privatization is not the answer, and never will be.

All tax credits for multinational corporations or any business that outsources American jobs. There is no reason for a company not investing in our nation to get money back from the government.
interest and dividend taxes on all investments over 1,000,000
Equal rights for all. This includes fair pay, marriage rights, and anti-discrimination laws for all. Regardless of veteran status, sex, gender identity, orientation, ethnicity. We should all have equal footing to create successful lives for ourselves and our families. Repair the broken tax system and balance the federal budget. The elite are not pulling their fair share and its time we made them. Unless everyone does their part in keeping our nation great it will fall. The Green New Deal... This can be implemented along with better education for all through the repair of the tax system above.
